ARE YOU IN THE RIGHT MINDSET TO GET FIT?

When you make the commitment to create a healthier lifestyle, you want to make changes and maintain those changes.  If you know what stage of readiness for change (or mindset) you are in and set goals tailored to that stage, then you have the greatest chance of succeeding.  Begin by determining which mindset best fits you.

Print the booklet 2-sided so the pages line up correctly after it is put together.  The booklet is set up to fold down the middle.

After printed, line up the booklet so pages 7 and 8 begin the booklet with pages 9 and 6  printed on the back of those, then 5 and 10 with 11 and 4 on the back, then 3 and 12 with 13 and 2 on the back, and finish with pages 1 and 14 with the front/back covers on the back.  Fold the booklet in half down the center, and put 2 staples in the fold toward the ends of the book.  When you open the booklet, the pages should be numbered 1-14.

Begin by determining which of the following mindsets best describes your attitude towards making changes.  Then look in your GetFIT Connections™  - Manage Your Healthy Lifestyle Connections by Selecting the Right Goals For You.   at the activities and goals that will help you progress to your goal.: 

Mindset 1:  Who Me?  I Need to What?   

You are unaware of the health changes you need to make.  Or- if you are unaware of the changes you need to make to improve your health, you are uninterested. Look on page 3 of your booklet if you are in this Mindset.

Mindset 2:  One of These Days I'll Get Around to It

You are thinking about making a change, usually within the next 6 months.  You are still thinking about whether the risks of your actions will benefit from the changes you need to make.  You are thinking about those changes.  Look on page 4 of your booklet if you are in this Mindset.

Mindset 3 - I'm Making the Plans

You have decided to make a change and are planning that change within one month.  You may have tried changing in the past, but had a hard time sticking with your plans.  Turn to page 5 of your booklet if you are in this Mindset.  You may find the GetFIT Connections™ Journal helpful in recording your action plan.

Mindset 4 - I'm Here and Doing It

You are trying to make the desired change and have been working at making the changes for less than 6 months.  If you are in this Mindset, turn to page 6 in your booklet.

Mindset 5 - I've Done It!  I Want to Continue!

You have made a change and have sustained your healthy lifestyle change(s) for 6 months or longer.  If you are in this Mindset, turn to page 7 in your booklet.

 

Highlight your mindset and turn to the corresponding page in your GetFIT Connections™  - Manage Your Healthy Lifestyle Connections by Selecting the Right Goals For You booklet. 
 

The weekly contracts contain the information you need to move towards your change, whether it is to increase exercise, follow a meal plan, or create positive affirmations, all based on the latest research on what works!  Tips to help you maintain your changes through fun and new ideas will keep you in the maintenance phase.
